(St. Catharines, ON) The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) is pleased to announce its elected Executive Committee for the 2009-10 season.

Player Representatives, Mathieu Darche (Portland), Trevor Gillies (Albany), Mike Hoffman (Chicago), Dan Jancevski (Hamilton), Dan Smith (Syracuse), and Pete Vandermeer (Quad City) will serve on the American Hockey League Executive Committee, while Mac Faulkner (Cincinnati), Jim Henkel (Trenton), Jeff Kyrzakos (Mississippi), and Ken Scuderi (Charlotte) will serve on the ECHL Executive Committee. Each member of the PHPA Executive was nominated, then elected through a formal secret ballot process by fellow Player Representatives in attendance at the PHPA Annual Meeting.

“The Executive Committee is an integral aspect to the successful operation of the PHPA, and I look forward to working closely with all of these proactive young professionals as they further develop into leaders both on and off the ice,” said PHPA Executive Director, Larry Landon.

The members of the PHPA Executive Committee provide direction and oversight in dealing with various matters of importance to the Association and its Membership between meetings of PHPA Player Representatives. Elected Executives may serve three (3) seasons, before having to be re-elected at the Association’s Annual Meeting of Player Representatives, traditionally held in June. Appointed Executives serve one (1) season, and are then subject to a formal election process.

MeiGray, in association with the ECHL and the PHPA, is auctioning a complete set of forty-two (42) autographed, game-worn Reebok EDGE jerseys from the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game, beginning Wednesday, February 17th until Wednesday, March 3rd, with all proceeds benefiting the PHPA/ECHL Health and Welfare Trust fund.

The American Hockey League and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association have unveiled the 2009- 10 AHL Top Prospects trading card set, featuring 50 of the outstanding young players in the AHL.

A crowd of 21,508 fans – the largest gathering ever in the 74-year history of the American Hockey League – packed the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse on Saturday afternoon for the Mirabito Outdoor Classic, and watched the hometown Syracuse Crunch hold on for a 2-1 victory over the Binghamton Senators in the AHL’s first outdoor game.
